Modern Sex Therapy Institutes is pleased to announce it will begin offering a Doctorate in Clinical Sexology.

Enrollment is now underway for the program that begins February 6, 2020. Apply online.

The Clinical Sexology Ph.D. program is for licensed mental health and medical professionals including marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, social workers, Psychologists, Physicians, ARNPs, and Nurses who want to further their education and services for clients.

“This program gives mental health and medical professionals an opportunity to expand their practice, help individuals and couples who are dealing with relationship and sexual issues, and achieve an advanced degree,” reports Rachel Needle, Psy.D., co-director of Modern Sex Therapy Institutes’ Clinical Sexology Ph.D. program.

“After completion of our Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology program, professionals will be able to offer education, resources, tools, therapy and techniques they previously could not in order to help clients with their own sexual comfort, expression, functioning, activity and growth,” Dr. Needle adds.

The program components include 40 credit hours of core coursework, 20 credit hours of dissertation work (10 credit hours of dissertation research and 10 credit hours of dissertation defense), 50 clock hours of clinical supervision, and a comprehensive exam. The average length of time to complete the program is two years.

Tuition is $12,375. Students have flexibility in payments and have up to two years to complete tuition payments without penalties.

“Sex therapy is an unregulated field in all states except Florida, which means many people who have licenses to practice therapy can call themselves sex therapists without formal training,” Dr. Needle states. “It is a good idea for clients to ask therapists about their training in sex and relationships when those are the issues they are coming in with,” she adds.
