Modern Sex Therapy Institutes now offers doctorate program in Clinical Sexology

“This program gives mental health, educators, pastoral, medical, and other healthcare professionals an opportunity to expand their practice, help individuals and couples who are dealing with relationship and sexual issues, and achieve an advanced degree,” reports Rachel Needle, PsyD, Co-Director of Modern Sex Therapy Institutes’ Clinical Sexology Ph.D. program.

After completion of our Ph.D. in Clinical Sexology program, professionals (dependent on their previous license) “will be able to offer education, resources, tools, therapy, and techniques they previously could not in order to help clients with their own sexual comfort, expression, functioning, activity, and growth,” Dr. Needle adds.

The program components include 40 credit hours of core coursework, 20 credit hours of dissertation work (10 credit hours of dissertation research and 10 credit hours of dissertation defense), 50 clock hours of clinical supervision, and a comprehensive exam. The average length of time to complete the program is two years.

Tuition is $17,375. Students have flexibility in payments and have up to two years to complete tuition payments without penalties.

“Sex therapy is an unregulated field in all states except Florida, which means many people who have licenses to practice therapy can call themselves sex therapists without formal training,” Dr. Needle states. “It is a good idea for clients to ask therapists about their training in sex and relationships when those are the issues they are coming in with” she notes.

Modern Sex Therapy Institutes has been offering Continuing Education (CE) and Sex Therapy Certification for over 10 years, providing the most flexible scheduling, course, and payment options in the market! With over 130 workshops to choose from, you can get all of your CE Hours for AASECT (American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists) or your license in person in 8 states, online via live webinars, or via video recordings.

Modern Sex Therapy Institutes is an AASECT, APA, and NBCC approved CE provider and offers Certification in Sex Therapy, Counseling and Education and Renewal CE Hours.

Rooted in the core principles of sex therapy, MSTI takes a true, multidisciplinary approach, by integrating cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, relational, and systemic approaches within the emerging field of sexual medicine.  Our training programs are trailblazing new pathways into the future of integrative sex therapy by providing mental health and medical professionals a robust and growing foundation for healing, improving relationships, and sexual well-being.

In addition, the institutes’ directors will work with students individually to help ensure they meet all education, supervision, and dissertation requirements for completion of the degree and certification including guiding them through the application process.
