Description:

This workshop is intended to provide participants with information on conducting forensic psychological evaluations with focus on the following:

-Conducting Psychological evaluations to assess sexual behavior problems (SBPs) across the lifespan

-The forensic evaluation vs. traditional psychological evaluations (side note: training for psychosexuals should be done subsequent to establishing competency with General forensic evaluations)

-Key distinguishing features of a Psychosexual vs. Sexual Behavior-Specific Evaluation (connotation based on age and gender)

-nuts and bolts of a sound forensic evaluation

-Assessment measures commonly used in completing evaluations for SBPs

-the role of safety-planning in Psychosexual / Sexual Behavior Specific Evaluations

  • Describe the characteristics of a sexual offender
  • Explain 3 types of thinking errors sexual offenders most commonly utilize
  • List 3 ways one can prevent relapse

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Jeannie Brooks is a Psychologist in private practice, licensed in both Florida and New York who specializes in providing comprehensive forensic psychological evaluation and consultation services. Dr. Brooks is considered an Expert in several areas, and proffers Expert Witness Testimony in various legal venues, albeit, she specializes in conducting evaluations and serving as a consultant to attorneys and lead community-based care agencies in conjunction with the Dependency and Family Court systems. Her areas of expertise include comprehensive psychological, neuropsychological, psychosexual/sexual behavior-specific, Psycho-educational, and parental fitness evaluations and consultation. Dr. Brooks provides staff training on risk identification and management, in addition to maintaining active research in areas such as juvenile justice and best practices in forensic assessment.
