Description:

Increasingly, courts rely on forensic experts to help them decide on cases where specialized knowledge is essential in decerning a just resolution. Certainly, there are many incidences where the court requires expert knowledge involving cases where sexual behavior is relevant, such as in sexual assault, accidents resulting in injury affecting sexual functioning, parental rights to determine hormone treatment, “deviant sexual behavior,” custody cases involving alternative lifestyles (e.g., polyamory), etc. As a sexual health professional, you may be called on as either a fact witness or an expert witness where you’ll interact with the court. This seminar will provide you with a general overview of forensic sexology as an emerging field, provide key tips on how to act as an expert witness, and produce quality reports that help inform the court’s decision-making.
