Lisa Thomas is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor. She is also the Founder and Director of Colorado Couples Counseling and Sex Therapy, a Private Practice Psychotherapy Office located in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
Since 2003, Lisa has been working as a Relationship and Sex Therapist and has taught and supervised at The Denver Family Institute and the Colorado School for Family Therapy. In Private Practice, her specialization is working with couples on the brink of divorce or separation, affair recovery, helping individuals and couples work through sexual dysfunction issues and medical sex therapy concerns, which includes helping people navigate intimacy with a new medical or mental health diagnosis, such as how medications effect sexual functioning. One of her passions is helping people discover sex after having a baby, as well as rediscovering intimacy and aging.
Lisa was also the President of The Colorado Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and had a Podcast, Family Affairs, which ran from 2015-2019 on I-Tunes and had over 100 episodes ranging in topics like “Sex After Baby” and “How to Heal a Relationships After an Affair”.
Approach to Supervision:
Her primary orientations are Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral (CBT). She is also trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and The Gottman Method. Her style can be described as sex positive and supportive and she most enjoys helping students discover their strengths as therapists and polishing them to shine in their work.
