Modern Sex Therapy Institutes in association with Arlene Lev, LCSW-R, CASAC II, CSTS and Margie Nichols, Ph.D., CSTS is proud to announce the first comprehensive Certification Program for Transgender Affirmative Mental Health Care designed and taught by transgender health experts and their allies.  The vast majority of instructors are trans and/or nonbinary and all instructors are trans-affirming and have extensive clinical expertise in working with trans/nonbinary people and their families.

Transgender and nonbinary people are coming out in larger numbers than ever before. Understanding the needs of trans and non-binary adults, adolescents, children and their families is a specialized need for therapists. This program provides an affirming, compassionate, and culturally sensitive approach to addressing the clinical needs of those seeking services, including assessment and treatment strategies, as well as referrals for medical and surgical care. Yet the environment is undergoing such rapid change that few professionals have the training to work with this population; clinical approaches that were common even as recently as ten years ago are outdated and sometimes even discredited.  Compassionate, skilled professionals are often in high demand.

Our training will prepare you to work effectively, ethically, and respectfully with transgender children, adolescents, and adults as well as with parents, partners, and family members.  From proper terminology to the latest research and treatment recommendations to the community’s current and evolving understandings of themselves, this program will give you the comprehensive knowledge and supervised treatment experience you need.

Presenters are experts in this field, with the majority having lived experience, in addition to clinical expertise.
