Description

Description:

There is a large overlap between the transgender/non-binary and the autistic community. This workshop presents an overview of best practices in clinical work with autistic trans/non-binary people. Participants will build an understanding of autistic experiences, including minority stress, trauma, and frequently missed diagnoses, specifically in healthcare systems. The presentation will include common clinical considerations and key strategies for creating a practice and/or clinic that is affirming for autistic and other neurodivergent transgender people.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the difference between neurodiversity paradigm and pathology paradigm
  • Identify four common characteristics of the autistic experience
