Neurodiverse relationships have common challenges that can impact one’s sex life. These challenges originate from not understanding how brain and body differences impact executive functioning in ADHD. This course will summarize the common challenges found in Anita’s book: ADHD & Us: A Couple’s Guide to Loving and Living with Adult ADHD and how to apply the Five Relationship Pillars to one’s sex life. Research will be summarized on why sensory processing needs to be included in assessment and treatment when ADHD and/or Autism is present. The course will provide an overview of the sensory processing systems and how it presents in the neurodivergent individuals. Clinicians will be given ways to incorporate sensory processing into their interventions.

Speaker Bio:
Anita Robertson, LCSW (she/hers) is a psychotherapist in Austin, Texas and the author of ADHD & Us: A Couple’s Guide to Loving and Living with Adult ADHD. Anita created and facilitates an ADHD Relationship Bootcamp (virtual and in person) to help neurodiverse couples develop new skills to improve their relationships. She runs support groups for the non-ADHD partner based on her book, ADHD & Us. She believes in the power of a relationship to transform people’s lives in meaningful ways and loves seeing couples grow together. Accordingly, all of her courses and workshops are ADHD-friendly: interactive, and full of movement, games, and novelty. In her practice, Anita draws from her past experience supporting school children with ADHD, her time as a camp director, and her training in couples counseling.
