AASECT Category: Sex Therapy Training, Section C

Couples enter our offices with many conflicts and differences. Often they are fighting over contracts they have never made. Therapists jobs are to help the couple differentiate through empathy and validation. The things they are fighting over represent old wounds from their childhood being recycled and embedded in their conflicts today. How does each one help us find and get the love they want? This workshop will teach therapists about IMAGO Relationship Therapy theory and communication techniques so couples can get to the next level of their relationship.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the mystery of attraction between partners in a relationship
  • Describe three stages of love: Romantic Love, Power Struggle, Real Love
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to help couples resolve conflict and create more intimacy
