Sexual functioning is affected by a combination of psychological, physical, and relational factors. In this course, the impact of hormones in sexual functioning will be discussed, as well as what treatment options are available to both men and women to optimize hormone levels.
At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to:
A true systems approach to good sexual functioning includes integration of medical treatment (when indicated) and sex therapy. This course will discuss how these are best combined with attention to symptoms suggesting when a referral for each is indicated.

Dr. Castellanos is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in sex therapy and the improvement of sex life for couples or individuals. She is committed to helping others learn about their own sexuality and how to achieve physical and emotional balance in their sex lives. As a physician and sex therapist, Dr. Castellanos uses her passion for positive thinking, exercise and nutrition to help guide you to a position of balance and happiness. Sex therapy can include the classical Masters & Johnson model of sensate focus, or it may include other methods for decreasing anxiety, improving communication and connectedness, while also exploring whatever medical or biological reasons there may be for sexual dysfunction. As a functional medicine doctor, Dr. Castellanos places an emphasis on the ways that lifestyle and nutrition impact your sexual desire and performance, and how it fits into sex therapy as well. She is an expert speaker who is available to provide talks, lectures, or interviews. She is also fluent in Spanish can conduct sessions in Spanish if needed.
