This 60-credit program, comprised of 15 classes (including 8 elective hours), is designed to allow students to flexibly work around their schedules, streaming the content-rich courses at their own convenience. Courses can be taken in any order, but they are structured to ramp up from introductory to advanced knowledge content. This unparalleled program steps squarely into a contemporary view of sex therapy, where both the mind and body are considered within a holistic approach. The robust and comprehensive certification program draws on the foundational principles of somatic psychology including polyvagal theory, breathwork, movement practices, narrative and art therapy, tantra and integrative trauma theories. Understanding how the brain and body work together informs effective somatic sex therapy interventions, which are most often used as an addition to, rather than a replace for, traditional sex therapy methodologies. Utilizing somatic sex therapy techniques inherently offers titrated pacing and client-lead initiatives to move clients toward states of embodiment, empowerment, and sexual health. A certification in somatic sex therapy allows clinicians to feel comfortable working with emerging somatic methodologies and sex therapy practices.

CERTIFIED NEURODIVERSE SEXUALITY AWARE PROFESSIONAL

This 16-hour certificate is one of the first to enhance the study of sexology through a neurodiverse lens. Increasingly, practitioners are expanding their purview of neurodiversity and necessarily broadening their clinical frameworks. This certification addresses fundamental elements of the neurodiversity paradigm, looking specifically at the challenges our neurodiverse clients face to create and sustain healthy relationships and sexual health through a sex-positive lens. This certificate enables sexuality professionals to feel comfortable working with emerging methodologies ideal for neurodiverse clients, and includes foundational courses as well as specific topics including sex education and couples therapy.

CERTIFIED SEXUAL COMPULSIVITY INFORMED THERAPIST

In contemporary culture, the most common way to describe someone with sexual dysregulation is “sex addiction.” However, the approach of Modern Sex Therapy Institutes’ 15-hour certificate focuses on a less pathologizing and shame-based approach, using terms like “compulsivity” and “Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB).” This certificate addresses compulsive behavior as a sexual health problem rather than an addiction issue in which consensual sexual urges, thoughts or behaviors feel out of control. With theories and methodologies from the field’s preeminent thought leaders, this comprehensive training is designed to help clinicians identify problematic sexual behaviors and achieve holistic health-based outcomes for clients who struggle, inclusive of tools for their partners and family systems.
