In this workshop will cover the Biopsychosocial model of pain and how it relates to BDSM and Ritualistic Experiences

Learning Objectives:

  • Define the modern definitions of Pain, BDSM, and Ritual
  • Discuss some of the available literature on chemical changes that occur in the body during pain
  • Apply Pain Theory and Historical examples of Pain in Ritual to modern interpretations and current culture

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Edwin Perez is an anesthesiologist with years of experience based in New Jersey and serving the New York and New Jersey area. By combining his knowledge of anesthesiology with his experiences in pain management, Dr. Perez is able to allow patients a much higher quality of life before, during, and after whatever surgery they go through. Currently, Dr. Perez is back on the east coast and managing his time between working at Garden State Anesthesia as a general anesthesiologist and Centurion Pain and Anesthesia in Manhattan practicing both anesthesiology and pain management as well as holding the title of Clinical Director of Pain Management. His cases include orthopedic, pain management, and endo cases as a solo practitioner. He also frequently performs procedures and consultations for people who are dealing with chronic pain and need pain management techniques and help. With board certifications from the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Anesthesiology Pain Medicine, Edwin Perez is well suited to help anyone and everyone when it comes to anesthesiology and pain management.
