This course will provide an introductory discussion on the role of race, sexual orientation, gender and other cultural components within the context of acute and chronic pelvic floor and sexual dysfunction.  The course will cover concepts of chronic minority stress and its impact on healthcare treatment, outcomes, and healthcare seeking behaviors among diverse communities.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Discuss the impact of ethnic, racial, and gender discrimination on health, pelvic floor, and sexual function.
  2. Explain historical and systemic constructs that contribute to health disparities among minority communities.
  3. List 2 validated outcome surveys that assess perceived discrimination/minority stress.
  4. Demonstrate strategies to address disparities in pelvic and sexual health among minority communities.
