American media’s portrayal of black sexuality perpetuates ideas created during African enslavement. This workshop will discuss the creation of these anti-black sexual troupes, the implicit bias sexuality professionals may need to unpack working with these populations, and tools to create inclusive sex-positive spaces.
Learning Objectives:
- Define objectification and fetishization
- Explain how anti-black sexual troupes were developed and how they are perpetuated today
- List 2 tools to check their implicit bias and support clients of color
- Demonstrate 2 tools to check their implicit bias and support clients of color
