Description:
This course provides an evidence-based review of pharmacologic therapies used to improve sexual function in both men and women. Participants will learn the mechanisms, indications, benefits, limitations, and counseling points for FDA-approved medications, hormone therapies, and emerging treatments targeting vascular, neurochemical, and hormonal pathways. The course also reviews off-label therapies, combination treatment strategies, and practical considerations to help clinicians individualize treatment plans and optimize sexual health outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify evidence-based pharmaceuticals — including emerging therapies — that enhance arousal, libido, and sexual function
- Apply evidence-based pharmaceutical therapies for arousal, libido, and sexual function to support safe and effective patient care in clinical practice
Activity Schedule:
30 minutes: From nitric oxide to the needle — providers will learn the full spectrum of vascular-based ED therapies, from first-line oral PDE5 inhibitors to advanced intracavernosal options.
30 minutes: Beyond the vasculature — providers will learn how hormonal and neurochemical therapies address desire and arousal across genders, plus a practical framework for matching therapy to the patient in front of them.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Amy Pearlman is a board-certified urologist with specialized expertise in male and female sexual health, male hormonal health, and genitourinary health. She earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed her urology residency at the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to complete a fellowship in male sexual and reproductive medicine, genitourinary reconstruction, and andrology at Wake Forest University.
Dr. Pearlman served as the Director of Men’s Health at the University of Iowa. After several years in academic medicine, she co-founded Prime Institute, a concierge medical clinic in Coral Gables, Florida, with her twin sister, Dr. Michelle Pearlman, a board-certified gastroenterologist.
