Description:
There is a large overlap between the transgender/non-binary and the autistic community. This workshop presents an overview of best practices in clinical work with autistic trans/non-binary people. Participants will build an understanding of autistic experiences, including minority stress, trauma, and frequently missed diagnoses, specifically in healthcare systems. The presentation will include common clinical considerations and key strategies for creating a practice and/or clinic that is affirming for autistic and other neurodivergent transgender people.

Finn is a somatic psychotherapist working with youth and adults in Santa Cruz and Mountain View. Their book, Supporting Transgender Autistic Youth and Adults: A Guide for Professionals and Families will be available October 21, 2019. They identify as non-binary transgender and as autistic.
