Description

Description: This workshop will present a compelling argument for improved consultation and collaboration between sex therapists and medical and mental health professionals across multiple disciplines. The presenter’s “Integrated Practice Model” offers both a critical look at the traditionally lacking areas of integration (e.g., marriage & family therapy, obstetrics, gynecology, urology, etc.), as well as ideas for sex therapists to seek greater collaboration.

Learning Objectives:

  • Demonstrate professional communication and personal reflection skills and sensitivity in taking a sexual history.
  • Prepare a plan for a psychosexual evaluation and subsequent psychosexual status at each session, and be able to discuss these in supervision.
  • Create an integrated sexual medicine practice model that participants can offer to physicians and other medical providers in their communities.
  • Describe a strategy for professional communication with a variety of other “dream team” collaborators and potential referral sources.

Activity Schedule:

9-10 Professional Communication and personal reflection

10-11 Conceptualization and presentation in supervision

11-12 Integrative sexual medicine practice model
